Job summary

Precision Drilling seeks a Top Drive Apprentice to join our on-site team in Houston, TX. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems such as top drives, troubleshooting defects, and conducting performance tests in both shop and field environments.

The role requires a high school diploma, engineering-related education, and on-call Availability. Safety and documentation are key aspects of daily work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate from vocational/technical school and/or an associate's/bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must pass Drug Screen and Background Check.
  • Lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be available for 24-hour on-call to the field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, including top drives, transmissions, pumps, and motors.
  • Diagnose defects and troubleshoot equipment in shop and in remote field locations.
  • Conduct performance tests and ensure proper operation of repaired equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including reports, time sheets, and work orders.
  • Adhere to safety policies and report unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, independence, and commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.

DAY IN THE LIFE
