Job summary

Precision Drilling in Houston, TX is seeking an Engine Apprentice to perform maintenance, inspection, and repairs on engines, generators, transmissions, hydraulics, and related equipment in shop and field settings. This entry-level role offers hands-on training and exposure to a range of mechanical systems.

You will troubleshoot systems, complete time sheets and work orders, and stay compliant with safety regulations while adapting to on-call field work and variable schedules.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Vocational/technical/associate degree preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must pass physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • On-call for field work 24 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, inspection, and repairs on engines, generators, transmissions, hydraulics, electric motors, and related equipment in shop and field settings.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Accurately complete documentation, including time sheets, work orders, and maintenance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace safety regulations and report hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Adapt to remote fieldwork, variable schedules, and high-pressure environments while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by streamlining processes and supporting quality customer service.

DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Perform maintenance, inspection, and repairs on engines, generators, transmissions, hydraulics, electric motors, and related equipment in both shop and field settings.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, and Background Check.
  • Lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
  • Be available for 24-hour on-call to the field when required.
