Job summary

Moldworks, a family-owned precision mold building company in Maple Grove, MN, seeks a detail-oriented Toolmaker to design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, and fixtures. You will operate lathes, mills, and grinders, read technical drawings, and ensure tooling meets exact specifications.

The ideal candidate has experience with precision measuring instruments, strong algebra/geometry skills, and a commitment to quality.

Qualifications

• Experience reading micrometers and other precision tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/blueprints
• Proficient with lathes, milling machines and grinders
• Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers)
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
• Able to work independently and with teammates
• Solid understanding of material properties
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to quality and continuous improvement
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Familiarity with CAD software (Creo, Cam-Tool, Mastercam)
• Basic computer literacy and software use

Responsibilities

• Fabricate precision tools, dies and fixtures from drawings
• Repair, maintain and improve tools and equipment
• Collaborate with engineers and production to meet specs
• Perform quality checks to ensure standards
• Operate toolroom machines (lathes, mills, grinders)
• Conduct preventive maintenance on molds and components
• Troubleshoot tool-making issues during production
• Ensure on-time delivery aligning with schedules
• Follow safety protocols and keep work area organized
• Continuously improve tool-making techniques and processes
• Follow safety regulations and practices
