Job summary

Magna Cosma International in Piedmont, SC is seeking a Tool & Die Maker with extensive experience in assembly tooling and robot tooling to join our manufacturing team. You will set up tools, make dies, and ensure conformance to specs while maintaining high tooling quality and process standards.

The ideal candidate has a 4-year Tool & Die apprenticeship, 7+ years of related experience, and strong metrology skills.

Qualifications

• Education includes an associate degree or equivalent and a 4-year Tool & Die apprenticeship.
• 7+ years experience with assembly tooling and tool construction.
• Experience with hemming dies or clinch tooling is a must.
• Strong metrology skills and familiarity with master-buck tooling.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of machine tools to fabricate and repair dies and tooling.
• Verify conformance of machines and dies to specifications by measuring dimensions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and set up appropriate tools.
• Maintain tooling quality standards and preventative maintenance.
• Adhere to QS9000 standards and work safely at all times.

Job Responsibilities:

• Able to operate a variety of machine tools (i.e. Tig/Mig /Arc Welders, lathes, milling machines, etc.)
• Verify conformance of machines or repaired dies to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
• Troubleshoot for problems during production.
• Able to set up appropriate tools in the department.
• Follow safe work practices and company work procedures at all times.
• Assure work performed complies with QS9000 standards.
• Maintain tooling Quality STD's and Preventative/ Predictive Maintenance program to ensure compliance with QS9000 Requirements.
• Able to work overtime as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Position Requirements:

Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from two years college or technical school or 5 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of a 4-year Tool & Die apprenticeship program.

Work Experience / Technical Training: Tool and Die Maker with related experience/familiar with assembly tooling work. Good hand dexterity, mechanical skills, mathematical skills and organizational skills. Must have a minimum of 7 years' experience with assembly tooling with minimum 5 years of specializing with new assembly tool construction and robot tooling. Hemming die or clinch tool experience is a must. Metrology experience is required including exposure to and using master-buck tooling.

Pay range: $30.10 - $38.89 per hour
