Job summary

Magna International, Inc. is seeking an experienced tool and die/engineering professional to drive tooling projects from planning to launch. You will prepare detailed drawings (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), lead root cause analyses, and coordinate Tool Room activities to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

In this role you will partner with cross-functional teams, uphold ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards, and contribute to process improvements and cost reductions in a dynamic automotive environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Tool & Die Maker and related automotive exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of BIW build fit & function and die processes.

Responsibilities

  • Apply laws, rules, regulations and internal policies.
  • Research methods and sources of information for tooling projects.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for tooling and production issues.
  • Improve tooling life, product quality and process capability through redesign.
  • Manage Tool Room operations including procurement, usage tracking and tool life analysis.
  • Create and update detailed engineering drawings per standards (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance across engineering practices.

Job Responsibilities
  • Applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures
  • Research methods, techniques, and/or sources of information
  • Excellent knowledge of principles, theories and practices of Project Management
  • Excellent tooling skills from planning to launching
  • Support quoting and cost estimation by analyzing tooling, production, and subcontract requirements.
  • Create and update detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks according to engineering standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans for tooling and production‑related issues.
  • Improve tooling life, product quality, and process capability through redesign and process optimization.
  • Manage Tool Room operations including tooling procurement, usage tracking, and tool life analysis.
  • Implement systems for accurate tool control, ordering, and usage monitoring.
  • Mentor and train engineers, technicians, and Tool Room staff to strengthen internal expertise.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement, equipment upgrades, and process standardisation.
  • Ensure all engineering practices comply with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Excellent skills in equipment planning and installation for assembly equipment
  • Excellent knowledge regarding quality expectations, planning and implementation within new projects
  • Excellent skills regarding Automotive product launches
  • Excellent product knowledge in Class‑A, B and C for the automotive industry
  • Familiar with all quality related methods and tools such as but not limited to CPMP, APQP, FMEA, etc.
  • Excellent customer relationships
Physical Demands

Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds, the ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time, and occasional bending and stooping. Office environment in a manufacturing facility. 60% in the office, 40% on the shop floor.

Knowledge
  • Bachelor Degree in a technical related discipline and/ or 5 plus years related automotive experience with sound understanding of BIW build fit & function
  • Certified Tool & Die Maker and/or 5 years related work experience in a Class A metal stamping manufacturing environment
  • Must have an understanding in the following areas: Die / die process, assembly tooling, welding & sealer applications, CMM & datum alignment, data processing & reporting, customer tolerancing concepts, working knowledge of catia V4/V5.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Project, Word.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
