Job summary

General Motors LLC in Flint is seeking qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (Millwright) to join a skilled trades team. You will perform maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical and hydraulic systems on industrial equipment while following OSHA and GM safety standards.

This onsite role requires reading blueprints, operating CNC tools, handling piping, and coordinating with multi-shift teams. Applicants must have solid hands-on experience and be eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Mechanical trade or six years of documented experience in a mechanical trade.
• Able to pass GM hiring process requirements including assessments, drug testing and background check.
• At least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures per OSHA standards and GM policies.
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical/hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Layout, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems.
• Use hand or power tools to cut, thread, bend, solder, and install pipes, valves, and fittings.
• Read blueprints for conveyors, robots, and automation systems.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and other mobile equipment.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Plan operations for fabricating tools or assemblies using blueprints or models.
• Verify finished part quality with calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
