Job summary

GE Appliances in Lafayette, GA is seeking a Tooling Technician to perform in-house die repair and maintenance, coordinate external die repair, and layout/machine/finish metal parts for stamping dies. You will analyze specifications, apply die-design knowledge, and work across tooling teams to ensure efficient production.

Required qualifications include a HS diploma or equivalent, 2-year Tool and Die-focused education or 5+ years of on-the-job training, and experience with dies in stamping.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or equivalent; 2-year Tool and Die degree or 5+ years in manufacturing will be considered.
• Journeyman certification is preferred for advanced tooling work.
• Experience maintaining or building stamping dies is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day tool room activities and respond to production demands as directed.
• Repair dies using surface grinders, CNC equipment, Machining Center, and Wire EDM.
• Read blueprints and die designs to guide repair work and improvements.
• Document PM checks and communicate condition and improvements to leaders.
• Troubleshoot dies and participate in tool room safety and five S initiatives.
• Provide support to Tool-Room Leader, Production, and Engineering; learn new skills.
