Job summary

Tooling Specialist / Tooling Engineer

CNC Tooling Specialist / Tooling Engineer

Our client is a long-established, stable precision manufacturer in the Menomonee Falls area experiencing significant growth. As the operation expands, they are looking for someone who really understands cutting tools and machining applications and can help make smart tooling decisions across a busy manufacturing operation.

This isn't simply a tool-crib position. The opportunity combines hands-on tooling knowledge, machining, supplier interaction, cost analysis and continuous improvement. You'll work with manufacturing, engineering and tooling suppliers to determine what tools should be used, how they perform and where better tooling can improve productivity, tool life or cost.

The work may include:

• Determine appropriate cutting-tool specifications and applications
• Work with manufacturing, engineering and suppliers on tooling for new and existing jobs
• Evaluate new cutting tools and tooling technologies
• Analyze tooling costs, consumption, productivity and tool life
• Maintain appropriate tooling inventory and availability
• Coordinate tooling service and repair
• Work directly with cutting-tool suppliers and other vendors
• Support MRO purchasing and vendor negotiations
• Help solve tooling-related machining and production problems

Experience with cutting tools used in CNC machining, multi-spindle/screw machines, manual machining or other precision metalworking environments is particularly valuable. A machining or engineering education is helpful, but practical tooling knowledge and experience matter.
