Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician for the SEWS Components Division – Tooling Mold Maintenance. The role involves assembling/disassembling molds, performing overhauls, and ensuring tooling quality per instructions and drawings.

The candidate should have a two-year degree in Machine Tool Technology or Maintenance and 1–3 years of mold maintenance experience, with strong communication skills and the ability to work at a fast pace. OSHA safety standards apply.

Qualifications

  • Strong manual dexterity and ability to handle delicate components.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble/disassemble molds following work instructions and blueprints.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and overhauls on tooling.
  • Quality check all fabricated tooling.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and document tooling work orders.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding mold activities.

BASIC POSITION DUTIES

Position will assemble/disassemble molds following applicable work instructions and blueprints; perform overhauls (preventative maintenance); parts fitting, shape mold components in accordance with training guidelines and understand parts mating position and function. Measure dimensions using appropriate measuring devices. Perform troubleshooting and utilize surface grinders, hand tools and or welding equipment.



  • Assemble/disassemble molds following applicable work instructions and blueprints.

  • Perform Overhauls (Preventative Maintenance); Parts fitting and shape mold components in accordance with training guidelines and understand parts mating, position, and function.

  • Perform quality assurance checks on all fabricated tooling.

  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Prepare required documentation (i.e. tooling work orders, quality inspection reports, etc.).

  • Ensure proper verbal/written communication with other departments in regard to mold activities.

  • Perform all job duties per OSHA guidelines, safety rules, and housekeeping requirements and ensure other maintenance associates follow the proper guidelines, rules, and requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Two-year Machine Tool Technology degree/Maintenance degree, 1-3 years on the job experience with injection mold maintenance. Must possess fine motor skills for handling delicate components and be able to perform frequent pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying; must possess excellent oral & written communications skills. Must be willing to learn and be able to work at a fast pace.
