Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing methods and provide technical support to production and maintenance.

The role includes implementing countermeasures for downtime and claims and requires collaboration with vendors and management on machine capabilities and costs. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, SolidWorks experience, and the ability to travel internationally and domestically.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; years in a manufacturing/engineering environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SolidWorks experience with demonstrated capabilities.
  • Must be available for international and domestic travel.
  • Basic machine design knowledge and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mass-production engineering parameters (production, quality) for new business.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing methods.
  • Provide on-going technical support to production and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement countermeasures for downtime and claims.
  • Negotiate with vendors to obtain equipment, materials and parts.
  • Coordinate Kaizen activities.
  • Collaborate with management on production schedules and costs.
  • Develop equipment to produce/assemble precise molded parts and ensure quality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Fulfilling additional duties as assigned.

  • Negotiates with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials and parts.
  • Investigate and coordinate Kaizen activities.
  • Work with management, manufacturing, corporate officials and other staff regarding machine capabilities, production schedules, and other cost considerations to facilitate production.
  • Develop the necessary equipment required to produce/assemble precise molded parts and to guarantee the quality of the parts as produced.
  • Must have understanding of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.
