Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. in the United States seeks a Manufacturing Engineer III to develop and optimize mass-production processes, methods, and tooling. The role supports production, quality, and vendor coordination to ensure high-quality molded parts.

The candidate should hold a Mechanical Engineering degree, have SolidWorks experience, and be willing to travel internationally and domestically to support projects and Kaizen improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; years in a manufacturing/ engineering environment or equivalent.
  • Ideal candidate has ME experience complimented with a degree.
  • Knowledge/skills for basic machine design and computer skills.
  • SolidWorks experience and ability to demonstrate capabilities.
  • Available for international and domestic travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mass-production engineering parameters for new business.
  • Developes, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods.
  • Provide on-going technical support to production and maintenance to ensure effective use of production equipment and tooling.
  • Develop and implement countermeasures for claims, IPDs, and downtime.
  • Negotiate with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials and parts.
  • Investigate and coordinate Kaizen activities.
  • Coordinate with management and staff regarding machine capabilities, production schedules and costs.
  • Develop equipment required to produce/assemble precise molded parts and ensure quality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job description

Basic Position Duties Manufacturing Engineer III Engineering
  • Develop mass-production engineering parameters (production, quality) for new business.
  • Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods.

  • Develop the necessary equipment required to produce/assemble precise molded parts and to guarantee the quality of the parts as produced.
  • Must have understanding of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.
