Job summary

Asterism IT Solutions in Appleton, WI is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with strong tooling/fixture design and hands-on shop-floor experience. The ideal candidate will support fixture development, Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, time studies, and production efficiency.

Design fixtures using SolidWorks, create 3D layouts and GD&T, validate with Manufacturing and Quality, and lead Kaizen and VSM initiatives to optimize bottlenecks and waste.

Qualifications

• Hands-on shop-floor manufacturing experience – Mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Experience with fixture design and manufacturing.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Experience with Time Studies, Line Balancing, and VSM.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and Kaizen.
• Ability to develop clear Work Instructions.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop fixtures using SolidWorks.
• Create 3D fixture layouts, drawings, and GD&T.
• Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality teams to validate fixtures.
• Identify opportunities to improve process capability, productivity, and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions and Video Work Instructions.
• Perform time studies, line balancing, VA/NVA/RNVA analysis, and capacity analysis.
• Develop Current State and Future State Value Stream Maps (VSM).
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis for defects and downtime.
• Support Kaizen events and develop improvement roadmaps.
• Design and improve fixtures based on production requirements.
