Job summary

J.W. Speaker is looking for a Tooling Engineer Technician to support development, sourcing, and continuous improvement of plastic injection mold tooling.

You will collaborate with Engineering and external tooling partners to ensure tooling meets performance, quality, and cost objectives. Ideal candidates have an Associate’s degree in Tool & Die or equivalent hands-on tooling experience with 2+ years in plastics tooling, and familiarity with SOLIDWORKS or Pro-E and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Tool & Die or equivalent hands-on tooling experience.
• At least 2 years of tooling design, manufacturing, or procurement experience in plastics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD platforms (SOLIDWORKS or Pro-E).

Responsibilities

• Assist Tooling Engineer in validating mold tool performance and procurement to cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Review mold tool design and monitor tool status to timeline.
• Research alternate mold tooling technologies to reduce lead-time and cost.
• Assist mold department for in-house implementation as required.
• Participate in plastic component design to ensure best practices for cost-effective tooling.
• Solicit ideas to reduce mold tooling procurement and production lead-time.
• Contribute to NPD processes improvements.
