Job summary

JW Speaker is seeking a Tooling Engineer Technician to support development, sourcing, and ongoing improvement of plastic injection mold tooling used in our product lines. You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and external tooling partners to ensure tooling designs meet performance, quality, and cost objectives.

You will coordinate tooling procurement, support design reviews, troubleshoot tooling issues, and identify opportunities to improve tooling and manufacturing processes for

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Tool & Die or equivalent hands‑on tooling experience in plastics
  • At least 2 years of tooling design, manufacturing, or procurement experience in a plastics environment
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and CAD platforms such as SOLIDWORKS or Pro‑E

Responsibilities

  • Assist Tooling Engineer in validating mold tool performance and procuring tooling to cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Review mold tool designs and monitor tooling status to meet timelines
  • Research alternate mold tooling technologies to reduce lead‑time and cost
  • Assist mold department with in‑house implementation as required
  • Support design to ensure best practice for lowest cost tooling
  • Solicit ideas to reduce tooling procurement and lead‑time
  • Contribute to NPD processes improvement

About the Position

The Tooling Engineer Technician plays a key role in supporting the development, sourcing, and ongoing improvement of plastic injection mold tooling used in the production of our products. This role works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and external tooling partners to ensure tooling designs meet performance, quality, and cost objectives. Responsibilities include coordinating tooling procurement, supporting design reviews, troubleshooting tooling issues, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across our tooling and manufacturing processes.

Ideal Candidate

You’ll have an Associate’s degree in Tool & Die or equivalent hands‑on experience in plastic injection mold tooling. You bring at least 2 years of experience working with tooling design, manufacturing, or procurement in a plastics environment. You are comfortable working with Microsoft Office and CAD platforms such as SOLIDWORKS or Pro‑E. Most importantly, you are a detail‑oriented problem solver who takes ownership of challenges, collaborates well with cross‑functional teams, and is motivated to improve processes, tooling performance, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
