Job summary

MPI is seeking a Tool Engineer / Project Manager for a premier plastics manufacturer in the U.S. You will oversee mold design, tooling, APQP activities, and project execution to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with quality compliance.

You will liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, manage project financials, and drive continuous improvement across tooling programs from concept through production release.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in tooling engineering, mold making, or mold design in plastics injection molding.
• Experience with injection mold design, mold construction and resin systems.
• Proficient with 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred, MFA experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate manufacturability, tooling risks, costs, and lead times.
• Review and approve injection mold designs to meet specs.
• Lead project review meetings and track milestones and budgets.
• Collaborate with tooling suppliers from concept to production release.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain and admin teams.
• Be the primary contact for customers and suppliers and manage expectations.
• Track project status with ERP/APQP and maintain schedules.
• Develop quotations, tooling budgets, and subcontractor estimates.
