Job summary

Ferriot is seeking an experienced Tooling Engineer in Akron, OH to lead the procurement, design validation, and lifecycle delivery of high‑precision injection molds. You will bridge customers, external tool builders, and internal manufacturing teams to drive projects from concept through production handoff with strict quality adherence.

The role requires a Plastics/Mechanical Engineering background, expertise in MoldFlow and GD&T, and hands‑on mold making/tooling experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Experience with multi‑cavity injection molds, runners, tool steels, and molding machinery.
• Familiarity with engineering plastics, shrinkage, and process behavior.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and mold filling simulations.
• Experience using ERP, MS Office, and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint).

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement, design validation, and lifecycle delivery of high‑precision injection molds.
• Act as the technical bridge between customers, external tool builders, and internal teams.
• Drive projects from concept and quoting through tool qualification and production handoff.
• Apply GD&T to part prints, tooling schematics, and verification reports.
• Coordinate with external shops, provide design reviews, build oversight, and final sign‑off.
• Direct trials and molding trials to ensure stable, repeatable processes before production release.
