Job summary

MPI in Akron seeks a Tool Engineer/Project Manager to lead injection mold engineering and end-to-end project management for new and existing customer programs.

The role acts as the primary technical liaison with customers and suppliers, overseeing mold design, procurement, APQP activities, engineering changes, and program execution to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years in tooling engineering, mold making, or mold design in plastics injection molding; or 3+ years with equivalent degree.
• Strong knowledge of injection mold design, mold construction, materials, and molding processes.
• Experience using 3D CAD software; SolidWorks preferred.
• Hands-on Mold Flow Analysis (MFA) experience for tooling development.
• Project management experience; PMP or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate manufacturability, tooling risks, and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Review and approve injection mold designs to meet requirements and specs.
• Lead project review meetings and oversee milestones and deliverables.
• Collaborate with tooling suppliers from concept to production release.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain to support launches.
• Manage project financials, budgets, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
