Job summary

Menasha Corporation seeks an experienced Mold Maker to oversee preventive maintenance and repair of plastic injection molds. You will coordinate tooling tasks, mentor staff, and reduce downtime while aligning with CI initiatives.

Requirements include 3–5 years in a mold shop, CNC/CAD experience, and an engineering mindset. This role supports safety, quality, and on-time production across our two packaging divisions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is desired.
  • 3–5 years in Tool Room/Mold Shop with CNC and CAD experience.
  • Ability to read 3D models and interpret engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily activities of personnel and tooling equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mold issues and optimize production practices.
  • Maintain mold history records and safety compliance.
  • Lead, mentor and coach team on proper processes and procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and 5S/STW activities.

About The Opportunity

Actively facilitate the preventive maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of our existing high- and low-pressure plastic injection molds. Help coordinate, schedule, and optimize both the tooling equipment and personnel to meet production schedule and reduce unplanned downtime.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Work closely with Tool Room supervisor(s) to schedule and coordinate daily activities of both personnel and tooling equipment.

  2. Maintain the ability to operate tool equipment safely.

  3. Mentor, teach and lead personnel to follow proper processes and procedures.

  4. Work assignments: Evolving problem‑solving abilities; troubleshoot mold issues in and out of the press, communicate to new product development on what works and what not to do.

  5. Utilize and teach best machining and production practices.

  6. Maintain all applicable documentation and accurate records for mold history through EAM.

  7. Decision making: Decision making of moderately challenging problems and assist other personnel in general shop duties.

  8. Follow corporation, department, environmental, quality and safety programs, including the use of PPE.

  9. Follow company policies, procedures and guidelines including the company handbook.

  10. Issue Resolution: Recognize when escalation is appropriate; offer mold, plant and companywide continuous improvement suggestions.

  11. Problem solving: Evolving problem‑solving abilities Be actively involved in Continuous Improvement; is expected to promote and sustain any/all CI, 5S and STW activities.

  12. Leadership: Works independently and proactively brings solutions to leader; Works more autonomous with limited guidance from leader; Upholds responsiveness guidelines; Key contributor and emerging leadership role on team; Ability to serve as a leader, part of a team, and productively on their own, based on the circumstances

  13. Accountability: Takes responsibility for decisions, actions and results

  14. Other duties as assigned.
