Job summary

Georg Fischer in Shawnee, OK seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to develop tools and equipment for plastic piping installation. You will perform FEA/DFMEA, prototype, test, and optimize designs for manufacturability with GD&T drawings and BOMs.

The role requires 5+ years of design experience, proficiency in SolidWorks, and willingness to travel light domestically and internationally. You will support Product Management, Production, and Sales in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
5+ years of tool and/or equipment design experience.
5–7 years of using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software for product design.
Experience in piping system design desirable.
Hydraulics experience desirable.
Electromechanical experience desirable.
Project management experience.

Responsibilities

Responsible for mechanical design of plastic piping system installation tools and equipment.
Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for tooling and equipment.
Perform Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
Perform rapid prototyping and be hands-on with product testing.
Create GD&T product drawings and maintain BOMs and routings.
Oversee ECO processes and lifecycle management of products.
Provide timely engineering support to Production, Product Management, Sales, Customers.
Collaborate with Product Management to identify cost reductions and performance improvements.
