Job summary

Precision Fuzing and Sensors in Middletown, CT is hiring a Design Engineer II, Tooling to design, develop, maintain and improve tooling and fixtures used in legacy fuzing product manufacturing.

The role requires SolidWorks experience, GD&T application, and close collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, and Test Engineering. This is an on-site position focused on delivering robust tooling solutions and production efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing engineering, or a related role.
• Demonstrated experience with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation; familiarity with GD&T.
• Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations, preferably with established products or precision components.

Responsibilities

• Tooling Design and Development: design tooling and fixtures using SolidWorks; create 2D/3D drawings with GD&T; estimate tooling needs.
• Tooling Maintenance and Improvement: maintain tooling through PM database; troubleshoot and improve durability, precision and throughput.
• Collaboration and Support: work with Manufacturing, Quality, and Test Engineering; assist with tooling setup and training; participate in design reviews.
• Documentation and Compliance: maintain tooling designs, specs, and work instructions; ensure GD&T and safety standards compliance; support security protocols.
• Project Management: manage small to medium tooling projects, coordinate fabrication with external shops, track progress and budgets.
