Job description

Quanex is looking for a Tool Room Technician for 2nd Shift, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, to join our team located in Owatonna, Minnesota. The starting hourly rate for this position is $28.50, which includes a $2.50 shift differential.

In this role, you are responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying metal stamping dies, jogs, and fixtures to facilitate quality production with minimal machine downtime.

What Success Looks Like:

• Overhauling, repairing, and reassembling dies and molds to meet production standards and schedules; sharpening punches and dies; making and replacing defective parts; correcting timing; and resolving other operational issues.
• Troubleshooting die breakdowns or other quality problems in production.
• Modifying and debugging new metal tooling to ensure proper machine function and quality output at desired speeds.
• Operating various machinist tools and inspection equipment, including surface grinders, milling machines, lathes, drill presses, saws, micrometers, surface plates, and gauge blocks safely.
• Coordinating and collaborating with different teams to ensure seamless operations.

What You Bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education, training, and experience
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a tool room or current enrollment in a Vo-Tech program
• Working knowledge of metal stamping dies, die casting tools, and related machinery for maintenance duties
