Job summary

Alloy Precision Technologies (APT) in Mentor, OH is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate tooling and fixtures across multiple machine types, including lathes, mills and grinders. You will ensure processes meet customer and regulatory requirements and support CNC work as needed.

Qualified applicants typically hold an HS diploma with extensive machining experience; Tool & Die or machinist certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• HS diploma required with general machining experience preferred.
• BluePrint reading and interpretation essential.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches for part manufacture.
• Experience with various shop equipment and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operate tooling and fixtures on lathes, mills, grinders and related equipment.
• Set up CNC and manual machines to produce required parts.
• Apply speeds/feeds and material knowledge to meet AB and customer requirements.
• Support tooling and fixture requests from Production, Eng, Sales, Maintenance and Machining teams.
• Maintain safety and quality standards; assist in process improvements.

Job description

This role works with general tooling, fixtures, die, and production work related to Alloy Precision Technologies (APT) production operations. The role involves setting up and operating many types of machine tools including, engine lathes, mills, grinders, and other fabricating and miscellaneous equipment. All duties will be performed to meet or exceed Customer, AS9100/ISO9001 and regulatory requirements.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Conduct self at all times to APT policies and procedures under the current revision.· This role reports to the Tool Room Supervisor· Support making tooling and fixture need requests from Production, Engineering, Sales, Maintenance, and Machining areas.· Apply general basic machining skills through the use of fundamental shop equipment, materials.· General working knowledge of speeds and feeds of materials.· General materials knowledge for assisting in prescribing/applying the proper materials for the desired application.· Ability to use a wide variety of gauges, comparator, and general shop practices to accomplish desired results.· Solid Blue Print reading skills.· Ability to convert verbal rough ideas and sketches into desired final product.· Support production work on and processes that require basic machining processes.· Flexible to support CNC production machining on an as-needed basis.· Make suggestions for improvements of applications, fixtures, etc.· Be a resource for those who may need to run the basic equipment to assure proper operation, safety, and general use.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:· HS degree required. General Machining experience 10 years desired. Tool & Die or other machinist certifications are a plus.· Working knowledge of feeds, speeds, materials needed to meet varied AB and Customer requirements· BluePrint experience, making blueprints, and making parts without blueprints is a general requirement.· Be willing to learn.
