Job summary

Vollrath is seeking a Tool & Product Engineer to drive development and launch of deep drawn and metal-stamped parts from concept to production. You will apply cost estimating, tooling design, and manufacturability principles to ensure quality and cost competitiveness, collaborating with sales, product management, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Tool design or Journeyman Toolmaker with CAD-based Tool Design and PM experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 10 years in Metal Forming Tools and Manufacturing preferred.
• 5 years in Tool and Die design relating to metal forming.

Responsibilities

• Estimate new product part costs and tooling investments.
• Design tools to be built internally or outsourced with vendors.
• Direct and train Tool Designers on best practices.
• Support NPI and cost-reduction projects with quality teams.
• Develop production processes to meet quality and customer needs.
• Manage tool-build process from designs to validation.
• Engage with Vollrath teams based on product/process needs.
• Provide manufacturing support for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Travel as needed to customers and vendors.
