Job summary

Sub-Zero Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Metal Forming Tooling Engineer to support new product development and transition concepts to production.

The role focuses on sheet metal forming, tooling design, and qualification, with hands-on collaboration with production floor teams and cross-functional NPD groups. The ideal candidate will guide tool/process choices, estimate costs and lead times, and manage RFQ packages and supplier relationships to ensure smooth production transfers and

Qualifications

• Experience with press formed sheet metal forming processes.
• Tool design and qualification knowledge.
• Ability to engage with production floor operators and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• As a technical expert, support needs related to the metal forming processes and equipment including implementation of new tooling, presses and related equipment
• Expand network of tooling suppliers and function as key engineer for responsible projects
• Review part designs and provide input for design for manufacturing
• Estimate tooling costs and lead times
• Develop tooling concepts and specifications, submit RFQ packages, oversee tooling build and validation
• Lead transition of tooling/equipment/programs/process documentation from development to production
• Support production engineers/technicians to determine root causes and solve part/process defects
• Create material specifications and assist in material selection and sourcing projects
