Job summary

The Pivot Group Network in Grand Rapids is seeking a Tool Maker to join their manufacturing-focused network. This opportunity centers on fabricating, repairing, and interpreting tooling to meet precise specifications.

You will work with blueprints, machine tools, and metrology equipment, applying GD&T and selecting materials to ensure tooling performance. The role offers exposure to various shops and growth within West Michigan's manufacturing community.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in tool making, precision machining, and fabrication.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application.
• Expertise in operating and programming CNC machinery (mills, lathes) and manual machine tools.
• Ability to select and work with a variety of materials, including metals and plastics.
• Skilled in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, alter, and repair a variety of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
• Set up and operate a wide range of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
• Perform precision measurements using specialized metrology equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing tooling, recommending and implementing solutions.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for specific tooling applications.
• Maintain and calibrate shop equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
