Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Tool & Fixture Designer I to provide engineering design services for tooling, fixtures, molds and hand tools used in the production of small unmanned aerial vehicles. You will create and release drawings per GD&T and ASME standards, and collaborate with manufacturing, quality and suppliers.

The role requires 0–2 years of related experience or 1+ years with a degree, CAD certification, and experience with MRP/ERP systems. Initial training in Simi Valley, CA is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical design is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience with bachelors; 1+ years in tool, electrical fixture design is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to calculate material weights and perform stress/pressure analysis in design phase.
• CAD software certification and proficiency with core office tools are required.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops tooling, fixtures, molds and hand tools for production.
• Ensure tooling and calibration items are identified and tracked.
• Create and release assembly/fabrication drawings per GD&T and ASME Y14.5/Y14.100 standards.
• Provide input to machine shop for tool path generation and process improvement.
• Maintain tooling inventory and support audits with corrective actions.
