Job summary

Honda Aircraft Company is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer to develop innovative production tooling solutions that support aircraft manufacturing operations. You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and suppliers to design, review and implement tooling that meets technical requirements and quality standards.

This role calls for aerospace tooling expertise, strong CAD skills, and a continuous improvement mindset to drive manufacturing excellence.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of aircraft tool design experience; automotive experience may be considered.
• Proficiency in CATIA with a minimum of 8,000 hours.
• Broad knowledge of commercial or general aviation aircraft tooling.
• Experience with composite tooling, assembly tooling, automation, tool fabrication, machining, and metrology concepts including laser tracker and CMM.
• Experience with master tooling, datum scheme development, and major structural assembly tooling.
• Proficiency in ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; ASME GD&T certification preferred.
• Machining, fabrication, and/or CNC programming experience is a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication, analytical problem-solving, interpersonal, multitasking, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

This role partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers to design, review, and implement tooling that meets technical requirements, improves production efficiency, and ensures the highest levels of quality and safety. The successful candidate will combine aerospace tooling expertise, strong CAD design skills, and a continuous improvement mindset to help drive manufacturing excellence.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:

• Associate degree in a technical field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of aircraft tool design experience; automotive experience may also be considered CATIA proficiency with a minimum of 8,000 hours
• BROAD KNOWLEDGE OF COMMERCIAL OR GENERAL AVIATION AIRCRAFT TOOLING.
• EXPERIENCE WITH COMPOSITE TOOLING, ASSEMBLY TOOLING, AUTOMATION, TOOL FABRICATION, MACHINING, AND METROLOGY CONCEPTS INCLUDING LASER TRACKER AND CMM.
