Job summary

Connecticut Spring & Stamping is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to support production by maintaining and repairing plant machinery. You will read blueprints, perform advanced machine repairs, and set up equipment with close tolerances while fabricating fixtures as needed.

The role requires five years of machine maintenance experience, forklift operation, and familiarity with safety protocols, lean concepts, and concurrent engineering principles.

Qualifications

  • CT approved journeyperson with apprenticeship completed.
  • High School or Trade School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the field of machine maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to operate Forklift equipment.
  • Experience in the maintaining of Laser Welding equipment & fixtures highly desirable.
  • Ability to make independent judgment decisions.
  • An understanding of Manufacturing Engineering - Quality Engineering.
  • Familiar with principles of concurrent engineering and design for manufacturing and assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Trouble shoot & Maintenance of Plant Equipment.
  • Advanced Machine repair.
  • Sets-up and operates standard machine tools and other machinery to close tolerances in manufacturing machine parts.
  • Fabricate fixtures – gages as required.
  • Meets with other personnel regarding instruction, in the design, maintenance or repair of machinery and equipment to assure quality standard.
  • Operates forklift trucks and other material devices in the movement of heavy machinery.
  • Performs Lock out/Tag out safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
  • Maintains required records.
  • Assist with production tooling if required.

To effectively support operations by maintaining and implementing systems and programs with regard to tooling and machine maintenance to support production schedules, continuous improvements to the quality, cost, and lead-time of goods and services provided to the customers of CSS. Works independently to diagnosis or work from relatively complex verbal or written instructions designing, building (including gauge building), repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment throughout the facility.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • CT approved (apprenticeship completed) journeyperson is a must
  • High School, Trade School graduate or demonstrated equivalent skills.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the field of machine maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to operate Forklift equipment.
  • Experience in the maintaining of Laser Welding equipment & fixtures highly desirable
  • Ability to make independent judgment decisions

Physical Requirements

  • Visual ability (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
