Job summary

Nidec Corporation is seeking an experienced machinist to build and repair tooling, dies, jams, and fixtures. The role requires reading blueprints, precision measuring, and operating manual and CNC equipment to produce and service tooling across the plant.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, with 3–5 years hands-on machining experience and familiarity with imperial/metric measurements. Apprenticeships or technical training are a plus; safety and quality are emphasized in daily

  • Apprenticeship and/or formal training may be required.
  • Knowledge of blueprints and measuring instruments; ability to interpret drawings and tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Produces new tooling to print specifications as well as repair existing tooling.
  • Services and repairs notching, single hit and progressive dies.
  • Services tooling throughout plant.
  • Observe good safety practices.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader.

Job Description

Builds and repairs machine shop tools using machining operations and measuring instruments. Works from blueprints and sketches to create or modify tools, dies, jigs and molds. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Produces new tooling to print specifications as well as repair existing tooling
  • Services and repairs notching, single hit and progressive dies
  • Services tooling throughout plant
  • Exercise good housekeeping in work area
  • Observe good safety practices
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader
Necessary Skills
  • Read micrometer, venires, indicators, and have a working knowledge of trigonometry
  • Understand simple and complex drawings and interpret geometric tolerances
  • Experience with manual and CNC lathes, mills, grinders, MIG & TIG welding
  • Proficient in Imperial and Metric measurements
  • Ability to work from engineering sketches and/or examples to fabricate tooling and fixturing
Additional Job Details
