Job summary

Enjet Aero in Ohio is seeking a Tool and Die Maker to design, repair, and calibrate dies, jigs, fixtures, and gages using NX CAD. This weekend-shift role (Fri–Sun, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM) offers 36 hours with a 4-hour bonus and a 25% shift differential, with training on first shift.

You will operate mills, lathes, grinders and related toolroom equipment, verify conformance with customer specs using precision metrology tools, and maintain tight tolerances.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient in operating all toolroom machines (mills, lathes, grinders, saws, etc.).
  • Strong math skills (shop math, geometry, trigonometry).
  • Troubleshooting/problem-solving abilities.
  • US Person per ITAR data restrictions; travel for training possible.

Responsibilities

  • Create tool designs utilizing NX CAD; conform to customer/military drafting standards.
  • Operate overhead crane as needed.
  • Verify finished workpieces against specs using micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs.
  • Maintain specifications, take measurements, troubleshoot, adjust controls, and replace worn tools.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and perform daily housekeeping.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment; follow maintenance requirements.

Position Description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Tool and Die Maker specializes in the construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine shop dies, jigs, fixtures, and gages. Operates various machine tools and performs other highly skilled work, such as laying out, fitting, and assembling parts. May involve considerable development work, highly skilled fitting, and adjusting. Occasionally construct tools where no design is available on an as-needed basis.

The position is for WEEKEND shift - Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM; working 36 hours and receiving a 4 hour bonus, totaling 40 hours, also includes a 25% shift differential. Must be available to train on 1st shift.

  • Create tool designs utilizing NX (Unigraphics) CAD system. This requires being familiar with tool design and drafting standards of various customers and military.
  • Operate overhead crane when necessary
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to customer specifications, using precision measuring tools and equipment as necessary (micrometers, calipers, gauges (pin, thread, indicator, height), optical comparators and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Maintains specifications; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by performing daily housekeeping duties
  • Maintains equipment by adhering to maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Report proper labor hours in the ERP system
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Exceptional time management and or organization skills. Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.
  • Always take ownership and be accountable for your actions.
  • Good and reliable attendance and a positive attitude are a must
Physical Conditions
  • Lift, push and/or pull 50 pounds
  • Stand at least 95% of scheduled shift
  • Routinely perform reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping to move and set tools, equipment, and materials
Qualifications / Education / Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be proficient at operating all toolroom machines, i.e., mills, lathes, grinders, saws, etc.
  • Good technical math skills (shop math, geometry, and trigonometry)
  • Troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
  • Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
  • Possible travel as required for training and multi-site support
