Job summary

Tool & Die Maker role in Sterling Heights, MI is a direct-hire opportunity. Build, repair, maintain, and modify dies, tooling, fixtures, gauges, and related equipment in a production environment.

Ideal candidates have at least five years of Tool & Die experience, with strong new die build experience. Journeyman in Tool & Die Making preferred. Position requires reading blueprints and operating conventional and CNC machines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years of Tool & Die experience in manufacturing/production.
• New die build experience is a plus.
• Journeyman card in Tool & Die Making or Machining is preferred but not required.
• Deep draw die experience is a plus.
• Able to read blueprints and understand tolerances and specifications.
• Experience safely operating machine tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining and assembly requirements.
• Plan the sequence of operations to fabricate, repair, or modify dies and tooling.
• Calculate and verify dimensions, tolerances, sizes, and specifications for parts and assemblies.
• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, etc.).
• Machine, grind, file, shim, and adjust components for proper fit and tolerances.
• Fit and assemble die components, gauges, fixtures, and tooling.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and modify production dies as needed.
• Inspect completed dies and components for dimensions and surface finish.
• Measure metal stock using micrometers and other precision instruments.
• Cut, shape, and trim material using various tooling and hand tools.
• Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and templates for production.
• Assist with die changes, troubleshooting, and first-piece approvals.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move dies and tooling.
