Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Machine Maintenance Engineer for the Bastrop Tool and Die shop to own end-to-end maintenance and reliability of die tooling and related machinery. This role focuses on maximizing CNC, EDM, grinder and crane uptime while driving equipment improvements from concept to implementation.

You will lead technicians, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to embed reliability in new equipment and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• At least 1 year in a manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years troubleshooting in manufacturing or machine-shop preferred.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot complex machine-tool failures.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, GD&T and P&IDs.”
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and resolve complex machine-tool failures.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and execute complex improvement projects to maximize machine availability.
• Collaborate with tooling, manufacturing, and automation teams on equipment upgrades.
• Provide leadership for CMMS usage and maintenance planning.
• Implement predictive maintenance tools and integrate them into reliability programs.
• Coordinate repairs with internal teams and third-party vendors.
• Update maintenance instructions to prevent recurring failures.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering
