Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die Machinist / Die Repair Specialist to join its manufacturing facility in Washington, PA.
The successful candidate will be responsible for precision machining, tooling fabrication, die maintenance, die repair, troubleshooting, and modifications to support uninterrupted production of high-quality steel outlet boxes. This is a hands-on manufacturing role requiring strong machining skills and experience working with complex progressive and compound dies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD drawings, and specifications.
- Machine and construct tooling according to drawing specifications and production requirements.
- Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine tools.
- Perform precision machining operations including cutting, drilling, grinding, milling, and turning.
- Fabricate and repair tooling, dies, components, and process equipment.
- Inspect and measure machined components to ensure compliance with precise specifications.
- Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair complex dies.
- Perform progressive and compound die repair and maintenance.
- Modify and adjust dies to accommodate new product specifications and manufacturing improvements.
- Troubleshoot die and tooling problems and take corrective action to minimize production downtime.
- Work with various tool steels and materials, including D2, A2, and copper.
- Follow plant safety procedures when working with heavy machinery, tooling, and sharp equipment.
- Support production operations and maintain equipment functionality throughout the shift.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to machine and construct tooling to drawing specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, and related machining equipment.
- Knowledge of machining various tool steels, including D2 and A2, as well as copper.
- Strong understanding of precision machining and tooling repair.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair dies and production tooling.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Tool & Die, Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- 2 years of machining experience.
- Experience building die tooling for stamping and manufacturing processes.
- TIG/MIG welding experience.
- Familiarity with steel heat-treating processes.
- Experience repairing and maintaining progressive and compound dies.
