The Tool & Die Maker (3rd Shift) is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by constructing, repairing, and maintaining tools, dies, and other precision components used in production. This hands-on role requires strong machining skills, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints to ensure all parts meet exacting specifications. The position also contributes to maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment in alignment with established production and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, maintain, and repair tools, dies, and related components for manufacturing operations.
- Perform precise machining operations such as milling, grinding, and turning using manual equipment.
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to fabricate tooling components with accuracy.
- Measure and inspect parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing tooling issues to minimize production downtime.
- Collaborate with production teams and support personnel to ensure optimal operation of tooling systems.
- Maintain compliance with all safety standards, quality procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and machining proficiency.
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 1 year of experience machining and constructing tooling to drawing specifications.
- Minimum 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprint drawings.
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, and related machining tools.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with various tool steels (D2, A2, and copper).
- Must reside within 50 miles of Washington, Pennsylvania (no relocation provided).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).
- Preferred:
- Associate degree in Tool and Machining or 2+ years of experience as a die maker.
- Welding experience (TIG/MIG).
- Familiarity with steel heat-treating processes.
