Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Group Leader for the Tool and Die group at the Lansing Grand River plant. You will lead a team of tool and die makers, drive safety, quality, and productivity, and coordinate with engineering, production, and maintenance to meet manufacturing goals.

This onsite role requires technical oversight of tooling, adherence to UAW agreements, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Weekend and rotating shifts are expected as part of operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in supervising or leading teams preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and quality focus required.
• Willingness to work weekends and rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of tool and die makers, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Oversee design, fabrication, and maintenance of tools and dies used in automotive manufacturing.
• Ensure all tools and dies meet specifications and quality standards.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance to coordinate tool and die activities.
• Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
• Manage inventory and ensure procurement of tools, dies, and related materials.
• Prepare and present regular reports on tool and die operations including productivity and maintenance.
