Job summary

Moog Inc. in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a Tool Designer to create 3D models and 2D schematics for molds, fixtures, and tools using CAD software.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to support tooling design and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of machine shop or tooling design experience, is detail-oriented, a self-starter, and comfortable working with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• At least 3 years of Machine Shop experience OR 2 years as a Tool Designer or equivalent education/experience.
• 3D printing experience is a plus.
• Quality conscious with strong dexterity and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and 2D schematics for molds, fixtures, and tools using CAD.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to support tooling design and improvements.
• Select materials by evaluating durability, heat resistance, machinability, and cost.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for designed tools.
• Maintain and check tool drawings and documentation for accuracy.
• Analyze production/tooling issues and implement improvements.
• Assist in training and cross-training others.
• Work with minimal supervision.
