Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Orange, VA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer (Tool Design Engineer) to design tooling for solid rocket propulsion systems. The role focuses on jigs, fixtures, lifting devices, and semi-automated equipment to support casting and assembly of final products.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of tool design experience or a Graduate Degree with 2+ years, or 8+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree. Security clearance is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of tool design experience; graduate degree adds 2+ years.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• Emphasis in mechanical tool design preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, provides engineering design concepts in support of manufacturing process and tooling.
• Develops CAD Model concepts, 3D modeling and detailed 2D drawings. Is active in design conception as well as assisting in the development of processes, working in a team environment.
• Responsible for design completeness through fabrication, including tool and process tryout.
• Directs or supports design, fabrication, modifications and repair of special tools in support of manufacturing operations and processes of solid rocket motor, air-breathing, and warhead programs.
