Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Specialist Tool Design Engineer to join our AMF facility. You will define tooling, design with Creo/ Windchill, perform FEA, and oversee procurement and fabrication of jigs, fixtures, molds, and mandrels for solid fuel rocket motors. Strong GD&T skills, tolerancing, and security clearance access are expected.

Travel is limited to 5%, and the role blends design, analysis, and hands-on manufacturing within a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of mechanical design experience; graduate degree with 2+ years; or 8+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 2 years tooling experience.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Work with cross functional teams define tool requirements.
• Design using PTC Creo and Windchill in accordance with DFx.
• Use FEA methods to predict stresses and resolve instabilities.
• Conduct design reviews with cross functional teams for tool designs.
• Oversee procurement and fabrication of tooling.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers for functional evaluations.
• Provide liaison support for tool maintenance and repairs.
