Job summary

L3Harris is seeking a Senior Associate Tool Design Engineer to join our AMF facility in Huntsville, AL. You will define tooling requirements, design jigs, fixtures, molds and mandrels using Creo and Windchill, and perform structural analyses to ensure manufacturability for solid fuel rocket motors.

This role blends design, analysis and hands-on fabrication, requiring collaboration with manufacturing and cross-functional teams, knowledge of GD&T, and the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, or graduate degree with 0–2 years.
• Experience in tool design and fabrication is preferred.
• Familiarity with Creo, Windchill, and FEA tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Define tool requirements with cross-functional teams.
• Design tooling (jigs, fixtures, molds, mandrels, lifting devices).
• Perform structural analysis to predict stresses and resolve instabilities.
• Oversee procurement and fabrication of tooling; support maintenance.
• Conduct design reviews and obtain cross-functional approvals.
• Travel up to 5%.
