Job summary

S&C Electric Company is offering a Full-Time Summer 2027 Internship in Chicago, IL. The program provides hands-on experience in mechanical and industrial engineering with exposure to tooling, CAD/PLM, and production environments.

The internship pays between $22 and $30 per hour, commensurate with experience, with a 1st shift schedule and opportunities to learn and grow within a 100% employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• In-progress degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related major and returning to school full-time after the work session.
• Ability to think analytically, independently, and outside of the box to improve processes.
• Ability to work with people in a production/plant environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in CAD, PLM, Microsoft Office, Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Solve design and manufacturing problems using engineering calculations and theory.
• Support continuous improvement of processes, tools/equipment, and products by problem solving.
• Provide engineering support for the tool shop.
• Investigate tooling issues and write clear engineering reports detailing procedures and conclusions.
• Work with operations to create instructions for standard work practices regarding tooling/processes.
