Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Culpeper, VA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer focused on tooling design for solid rocket propulsion systems. You will guide the development of jigs, fixtures, lifting devices, and semi-automated equipment to support casting and assembly of final products.

The role requires CAD modeling, 3D and 2D drawings, and hands-on factory support, with collaboration across product engineering and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years tool design experience, or Graduate Degree with at least 2 years of related experience, or in lieu of a degree, 8+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering design concepts in support of manufacturing processes and tooling under general supervision.
• Develops CAD models, 3D models, and detailed 2D drawings, active in design conception and supporting process development.
• Ensures design completeness through fabrication, including tool and process tryout, and can support senior tooling engineers.
• Directs or supports design, fabrication, modification, and repair of special tools for manufacturing operations of solid rocket motor, air‑breathing, and warhead programs.
• Provides technical support to product engineering for producibility through manufacturing, testing, and field use.
• Assists in tool acceptance criteria for in‑house fabrication or outside procurement of special tools.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
