Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist Tool Design Engineer to join our AMF facility in Huntsville, AL. You will design jigs, fixtures, molds, mandrels, and lifting devices for solid fuel rocket motor fabrication and assembly, using Creo and Windchill with DFx principles.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a mechanical design discipline with 4+ years of design experience, or 8+ years without a degree.
Hands-on experience with tool design for fabrication and assembly.
Experience with design for manufacturability and structural analysis.

Responsibilities

Define tool requirements with cross functional teams.
Design tools using Creo and Windchill in line with DFx principles.
Perform FEA to predict stresses and resolve instabilities.
Conduct design reviews and oversee tooling procurement and fabrication.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers for tooling evaluations and acceptance.
Provide CAD/engineering support for tool maintenance and repairs.
Apply GD&T and system tolerance analysis; use MS Office tools.
Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance; travel ~5%.
