Job summary

Horst Engineering & Manufacturing Company is seeking a skilled tool crib operator for full-time work in East Hartford, CT. You will receive, verify, and organize tooling and parts, monitor inventories, and build kits from blueprints and specs for manufacturing operations.

The role requires 1–2 years in a tool crib, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to read operation sheets, blueprints, and specifications. PC skills including Microsoft Office and Excel are required.

Qualifications

• One to two years prior experience in a tool crib environment.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Must be able to read and write comments, understand operation sheets, blueprints, and specifications.
• Required PC Skills including Microsoft Office and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, organize, and store tools, equipment, supplies, materials, and parts inventory.
• Monitor order-points, places, and expedites tooling and supplies orders.
• Work from blueprints, operation sheets, work instructions, and other specifications, to build required kits for manufacturing operations.
• Maintain inventory levels using spreadsheets and databases.
• Work with Purchasing to procure tooling.
• Quote special tooling needs for the manufacturing process.
• Perform tool sharpening.
• Assist with troubleshooting using tooling vendors for support.
• Inspect and measure tools and equipment for defects and wear.
• Pack and wash/preserve parts as needed.
• Perform other machining and assembly operations as needed
• Deliver tool kits and miscellaneous supplies to various machines on the manufacturing floor.
• Cross train for other functions within the department.
• Potential to become Forklift certified.
