Job summary

Jergens, Inc. in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Tool Crib Attendant to support production by maintaining tooling and supply levels.

You will manage tool inventory, prep tools for production, and coordinate with the vendor managed inventory distributor to ensure the right tools are available when needed. Ideal candidates have a high school education, strong math and shop knowledge, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a properly supplied tool crib within budgetary constraints.
  • Identify tools requiring resharpening and assist with creating and processing purchase orders for resharpening.
  • Store tools correctly and verify counts in the system for on-hand items.
  • Maintain correct inventory levels of tools and PPE in the tool crib area.
  • Pull tool kits per job cards and prepare tools and gauging for tool job cards.
  • Preset tools for production.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers when performing tasks.
  • Work with the vendor managed inventory distributor to maintain inventory levels and stock.
  • Coordinate with vendor distributor to ensure tool vending machines are stocked and replenishment levels are set.
  • Notify leadership of issues and ensure timely resolution to avoid production disruption.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records and reports with the distributor.

Reporting to: Operations Support Supervisor
Responsibilities
  • Has a basic understanding of our company’s policies and procedures and the company’s tooling and supply needs. Seeks assistance, as necessary with unfamiliar situations.
  • Is responsible for maintaining a properly supplied tool crib within budgetary constraints.
  • Is responsible for identifying tools that require resharpening as well as assisting with creating and processing the purchase order to have the tools sent out for resharpening.
  • Properly stores various cutting tools that have been resharpened or recoated into their correct bin location and verifies that the counts in the system are correct for all on-hand items.
  • Maintains correct inventory levels of tools such as boring bars, turning tools, drill bodies and various other tooling in the TCD tool crib area as well as MRO and PPE.
  • Pulls tool kits per job cards submitted. Properly pulls correct tools and gauging associated with the tool job cards.
  • Is responsible for presetting tools for production.
  • Communicates effectively with other employees when performing assigned tasks.
  • Works with the vendor managed inventory distributor to keep the required variety of supplies and tools at proper inventory levels to maintain TCD manufacturing.
  • Works with the vendor managed inventory distributor in the analysis of the tool vending machine unit(s) to ensure the correct inventory is stocked in tool vending machine units(s) and that proper replenishment levels are set for all items.
  • Contacts vendor managed inventory distributor when issues arise with the tool vending machine unit(s) and notifies leadership of issues. Ensures the vendor managed inventory distributor works to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Communicates effectively with internal customers and provides them the tooling and supplies that they need on-time so as not to disrupt production.
  • Alerts leadership of any issues needing leadership’s involvement so that it can be addressed immediately so that production is not disrupted.
  • Maintains timely and accurate records and reports, as required. Works with the vendor managed inventory distributor to ensure records and reporting are current, correct and available as needed.
  • Observes good housekeeping and safety habits.
Requirements
  • High school education is required. Has the necessary training to be proficient in the position .
  • Must have a broad general shop knowledge of manufacturing processes and a wide range of tooling and gauging knowledge for CNC's, Manual and Automatic machines.
  • Capable of using charts, formulas, tables, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Able to use advanced mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and handbook formulas.
  • Able to Interpret data and measuring devises requiring advanced skill knowledge.
  • Has excellent communications and interpersonal skills to be able to interact effectively with others to meet customer needs.
  • Has basic computer skills and is proficient with all related company systems and programs.
  • Has basic analytical and problem-solving abilities to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Effective time management skills in prioritizing and addressing multiple and at times conflicting demands.
