Responsibilities

• Plan operations for dies, tools and assemblies using sketches, blueprints and specs to maximize safety and efficiency.
• Verify finished part dimensions using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers and micrometers.
• Assemble parts using hand and machine tools; repair gauges, jigs and dies.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot tool problems and perform repairs on tools and dies.
• Interface with customers and suppliers to resolve production issues.
• Select metals and materials to meet project specifications.
• Oversee new tooling implementation and improvements to tooling.
• Review tooling and suggest improvements to safety and efficiency.
• Communicate findings clearly to management and colleagues.

Up to $40.00 per hour + 10% night shift premium

Job summary

The tool and die maker will oversee daily operations and ensure the efficiency and efficacy of all processes and procedures related to tooling repairs, new tooling, fixtures, and gauges. The ideal candidate for this position is a team player and a motivated problem-solver with an inquiring mind who can produce high-quality work under pressure.

Summary of essential job functions

• Use sketches, blueprints, specifications and models to plan operations for the fabrication of dies, tools and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency
• Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers and micrometers
• Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and modify gauges, jigs and dies
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools, manually operated dies and progressive dies
• Interface with external and internal customers, handle supplier and customer concerns, and work with team members to solve problems during the production process
• Select the appropriate metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring they meet project specifications
• Oversee implementation of new tooling and fixtures
• Examine existing tooling and suggest improvements
• Contribute to development of health and safety standards
• Clearly communicate ideas and findings to management and colleagues
• Other duties as assigned
