Reporting To

Engineering Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities
  1. Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
  2. Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances.
  3. Designing jigs and templates to support the fabrication of parts.
  4. Setting up and operating grinders, mills, lathes, drill presses, and other tools; performing parts cleaning, basic oven operations, band saws, and jib hoists.
  5. Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
  6. Grinding carbide, fitting, and assembling parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, and gauges using machine and hand tools.
  7. Assembling and disassembling tools and die parts to support production, ensuring timely repairs to maintain plant productivity.
  8. Inspecting tools and dies for defects, performing repairs, and conducting test runs with completed tools and dies.
  9. Supporting continuous improvement programs such as 5S, SMED, and KAIZEN within the organization.
  10. Supporting tooling efficiency improvement and scrap reduction projects.
  11. Following standard operating procedures for die repairs and maintaining detailed records of tool maintenance, repairs, changeovers, and entering data into SAP.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma and Journeyman Tool and Die Maker Certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience as a Tool and Die Maker.
  • Experience with progressive stamping operations, including carbide lamination and forming dies, and die sensing/protection.
  • Extensive knowledge of metalworking tools such as drills, milling machines, grinders, and lathes.
  • In-depth troubleshooting skills in die operation and assembly.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and handle carbide tooling safely.
  • Experience in quality control analysis.
  • Proven proficiency with measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, scales, and height gauges.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills to detect potential issues proactively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, collaborating with engineers and machinists.
  • Deep understanding of metallurgic properties of metals.
  • Solid knowledge of trigonometry and shop math.
  • Adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Must have valid work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
