Job summary

JARP Industries, Inc. is seeking an Experienced Tool and Die Maker for the 2nd shift (Mon–Thu, 2:00pm–12:00am) on a full-time basis.

You will perform bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, and gauges per customer specs, reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments. The role requires a 2-year technical degree in Machine Tool Mechanics and 2+ years of machining experience, plus welding and CNC instruction knowledge.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree in Machine Tool Mechanics with at least two years of machining experience.
• Classroom instruction on welding and CNC machines, including programming and running.
• Ability to read blueprints and work with limited supervision.
• Knowledge of fixed gages, height gages, calipers and micrometers; familiarity with lathes, mills, drills, grinders.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints or work orders to produce quality tools per specs.
• Develop new tools and qualify new tooling.
• Perform machining operations; adapt tooling for special needs.
• Coordinate with departments to test and update tools.
• Assemble, fit, align, and check workpieces to meet specs.
• Use calipers, micrometers and gages to verify tolerances.
• Assist higher-class tool makers on complex projects.
• Work on new samples or improve existing tools.

Job description

Experienced Tool and Die Maker (2nd Shift, Full-Time)

$26.00–$36.00/hour + $1.50/hour Shift Premium

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 2:00pm–12:00am

Under the direction of the Plant Manager or Team Lead, the Experienced Tool and Die Maker will perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, and gages requiring skill and a basic knowledge of tooling practice and application.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Works from blueprints, work orders or oral instructions to make quality tools according to customer specifications.
• Develops new products and qualifies new tools throughout the shop.
• Performs recognized machining operations, occasionally improvising standard tooling for special adaptations.
• Communicates with members of all departments to prove out new tooling and update existing tools to improve shop performance.
• Performs exacting bench operations to fit, assemble, adjust, align workpieces to ensure quality standards and customer specifications are met.
• Uses visual sample comparisons, fixed gages, height gages, calipers, micrometers and/or other available equipment to assure customer specifications are met.
• Assists tool makers of higher classification on more complicated projects and experimental and development work.
• Works on new customer samples needed or improves existing tools.

Marginal Responsibilities

• Check machine coolant/concentration levels and service as needed.
• May be directed to perform other tasks due to a decrease in the work load, machine being down for maintenance or a critical need exists in another area.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Two year technical degree in Machine Tool Mechanics plus a minimum of two years of machining experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required for this position.
• Must have related classroom instruction on welding and CNC machines, including programming and running.

Qualifications And Skills

• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Knowledge of the use of fixed gages, height gages, calipers and micrometers.
• Must possess knowledge of lathes, mills, drills, and grinders.
