Responsibilities
Uses manual machining equipment to build fixtures.
Repairs fixtures, molds, and tools when needed; disassembles molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures, then reassembles when repaired.
Reads and understands blueprints and complicated schematics as required to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts.
Inspects completed tools and dies for signs of imperfection or damage that may affect functionality.
Demonstrated mechanical ability.
Able to identify and explain basic tools and their usage.
Drilling, tapping, deburring with proper equipment and methods.
Possess welding and fabrication skills with abilities to improve quality.
Have a desire to gain knowledge in the shop as well as on their own.
Be able to read and draw a basic print and understand the goals of what we do in a tool shop.
Build on prior trades experience and refine the skills necessary to be a tool maker.
Keep shop and tools clean and organized.
Able to plan next step in a process and prepare.
Able to read measuring tools: tape measure, scale, micrometer, calipers, height gauge.
Regularly tests all equipment, tools, and machines to ensure they are arranged and set properly and working efficiently.
Modifies machine parameters to control speed, material feed, or path of cut as required to ensure a quality product is produced within specifications.
Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
