Job summary

Qualifications

• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and tolerances (GD&T).
• Operate manual and CNC machines for tooling fabrication and repair.
• Construct, assemble, fit, and repair dies and tooling for stamping operations.
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and heat treatment for dies and tooling selection.
• Diagnose tooling and stamping issues, perform root-cause analysis, implement fixes.
• Commit to safe work practices and proper guarding per standards.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.
• Experience as tool and die maker or completion of relevant apprenticeship/technical training preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a tool and die maker.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Tool and Die Maker role based in Bronx, NY. The Tool and Die Maker will build, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in metal stamping operations. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints, setting up and operating manual and CNC machines, performing precision machining, and verifying part dimensions with measuring instruments. The role involves troubleshooting tooling issues on the production floor, making adjustments to improve performance, and performing preventive maintenance on dies and related equipment. The Tool and Die Maker will collaborate with production and engineering teams to support new tooling projects, ensure safe operations, and contribute to continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications, including understanding of tolerances and geometric dimensioning.


• Proficiency with manual machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses) and familiarity with CNC machine setup and operation.


• Skilled in tool and die construction, assembly, fitting, and repair for metal stamping operations.


• Experience using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and ensure quality.


• Knowledge of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and appropriate material selection for dies and tooling.


• Ability to diagnose tooling and stamping issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.


• Commitment to safe work practices, proper machine guarding, and adherence to company and regulatory safety standards.


• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.


• Previous experience as a tool and die maker or completion of a relevant apprenticeship/technical training program preferred.
