Qualifications

• Hands-on tool and die experience with stamping dies and related equipment.
• Strong manual machining skills and the ability to produce accurate repair details from technical prints.
• Welding ability using TIG, MIG, and ARC processes; heat-treating and nitrogen spring experience are valuable.
• The judgment to troubleshoot under pressure when production equipment is down.
• High school diploma or equivalent and your own tool set.
• Crane and forklift certifications or the ability to obtain them.
• Availability for third shift and mandatory overtime, including weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair stamping dies and related support equipment.
• Respond to production breakdowns, identify the cause, and complete repairs that return tooling to safe, reliable operation.
• Machine precision repair details using manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and saws.
• Read technical prints and verify work using precision measuring tools.
• Use basic 2-axis and 3-axis CNC mill functions when needed.
• Perform TIG, MIG, and ARC welding, basic heat-treating processes, and nitrogen spring rebuilding.
• Support die setups for tandem-line and blanking operations and complete repairs inside presses when required.
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts and help train apprentices through a four-year development program.

Express Employment Professionals is hiring a hands-on Tool and Die Maker for a well-established local manufacturer. This position is responsible for keeping stamping dies running safely and correctly through preventive maintenance, precision repair work, and fast troubleshooting during production breakdowns.

Tool and die experience is strongly preferred. Skilled manual machinists or fabricators with relevant tooling, fixture, mold, die, or one-off repair experience will also be considered.

What You Will Do

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair stamping dies and related support equipment.

Work Environment

This is a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with moving equipment, noise, fumes, airborne particles, humidity, and occasional exposure to chemicals or vibration. The work requires standing, walking, reaching above and below shoulder level, and working in tight or uncomfortable positions during in-press repairs. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds is required, although most lifting is under 10 pounds.
